# Connect Dally to ChatGPT
> Add Dally to ChatGPT, say hello, and ask about your content and audience.
Dally gives ChatGPT the context to understand your content: your posts, how each one did, your comments and your DMs. You add Dally to ChatGPT once, say hello, and Dally walks you through the rest in the chat.
You need three things: a Dally account, a ChatGPT account, and an Instagram account to connect.
Until Dally is listed in ChatGPT's plugin directory, you add it by its server
URL with Developer mode on. These steps were checked on a Plus account on
2026-09-16, on a computer and in a phone's browser. ChatGPT renames its menus
often; if a name below differs, look for **Plugins** under **Settings**. A
workspace can also hide plugins: if **Create app** is missing, ask your
ChatGPT workspace owner to allow them.
## 1. Create your Dally account
Open [dally.ai](https://dally.ai/getting-started) and select **Get started**. Sign up with your email, then choose **ChatGPT** on the **Add Dally to ChatGPT or Claude** screen.
That screen runs the same steps as this page and moves on by itself when ChatGPT connects. You do not need to connect Instagram first; Dally asks for it after you say hello.
## 2. Turn on Developer mode
Use a computer, or a phone's browser. On a phone, sign in to chatgpt.com in Safari or Chrome first: the ChatGPT app cannot add an app yet. Once Dally is added on the web, the same ChatGPT account can use it in the app too.
Select **Open settings** on your Dally setup screen, or open [Developer mode in ChatGPT's settings](https://chatgpt.com/#settings/Security?section=developer-mode). It is under **Settings → Security and login**. Scroll down to **Developer mode** and turn it on.
If the link lands on ChatGPT's sign-in page, sign in, then open the link again.
## 3. Add Dally to ChatGPT
Select **Open apps** on your Dally setup screen, or open [Add Dally to ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com/#settings/Connectors?create-connector=true\&redirectAfter=%2Fplugins).
ChatGPT opens the **New Plugin** form. If it opens **Settings → Plugins** instead, choose **Advanced settings → Create app**; on a phone, select the **+** beside **Search plugins**.
ChatGPT does not fill these in from a link. Enter **Dally** for the name, keep **Server URL** as the connection, and paste this URL:

Keep **OAuth** as the authentication and leave **Advanced OAuth settings** alone.
ChatGPT warns that it has not reviewed a server you add yourself. Check **I understand and want to continue**, then select **Create**.
Choose **Sign in with Dally**. A Dally sign-in page opens. Sign in with the same email you used in step 1. A Cloudflare "verify you are human" box can appear once; tick it.
Read what ChatGPT is asking for, then select **Allow access**. ChatGPT returns to its plugins, and Dally now shows as connected. Your Dally setup screen notices within a few seconds and moves to **Say hello**.
## 4. Say hello
Select **Try in ChatGPT** on your Dally setup screen, or [open a new chat with the message filled in](https://chatgpt.com/?q=Using%20Dally%2C%20get%20me%20set%20up), and send it:

ChatGPT can ask for permission before it uses Dally. Read the action, then select **Allow once** or **Always allow**.
Dally answers with a **Connect Instagram** card. Select it, approve Dally on Instagram, and come back to the chat. Dally reads your posts, then offers your first question. You can also connect Instagram, and later your other accounts, from [dally.ai](https://dally.ai/settings).
Start a message with **Using Dally** whenever you want Dally to answer.

Dally can also change things when you ask it to: *"Using Dally, save my latest reel to my Swipe file."* ChatGPT shows the action and can ask before it runs.
## Keep Dally up to date
ChatGPT keeps the list of Dally's tools it read when you connected. When Dally says it has a new version, one press picks it up: [refresh Dally in ChatGPT](/connect/refresh#chatgpt).
## If something looks wrong

| Your Dally setup screen keeps waiting for ChatGPT | ChatGPT connected a different Dally account. Disconnect Dally under **Settings → Plugins**, add it again, and sign in with the email your Dally setup screen names. |
| ChatGPT answers without Dally | Start the message with **Using Dally**, or select **+**, then **Dally**, before you send it. If Dally is not listed, look under **More**. |
| Dally asks you to connect Instagram | Select the card in the chat, or connect it at [dally.ai/settings](https://dally.ai/settings). Dally reads your posts once Instagram is linked. |
